Telehealth prescribing confuses a lot of patients. Here's what an Ohio-licensed provider can and cannot send to your pharmacy after a video visit.
Commonly prescribed online
- Antibiotics for UTIs, sinus and skin infections
- Antivirals (Tamiflu, Paxlovid, cold-sore medication)
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, and diabetes refills
- Birth control
- Allergy, acne, and asthma maintenance medications
Not prescribed via our telehealth
- Controlled substances (opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants like Adderall)
- Medications requiring an in-person exam or lab first
Why the limits exist
Federal and state rules — and good medicine. Some conditions genuinely need hands-on evaluation, and we'll tell you honestly when yours does.
