Run cool (not cold) water over a minor burn for 10–20 minutes, then cover loosely with a clean, non-stick dressing. Skip ice, butter, and toothpaste — they damage tissue or trap heat. Seek care for burns larger than your palm, on the face, hands, feet, or joints, or any burn that blisters deeply or looks white/charred.
